Overview |
Data. It's everywhere and we're
collecting more of it. When it comes to organisations, there are many ways of collecting data both automatically and manually. Also, there are more Cloud services that are being used to manage business functions (anything from Accounting to Warehousing and everything in between). However, what happens if you want to look at data from multiple systems at once? For instance in the diagram on the left, say an organisation had Xero, Salesforce, Excel and a custom MS Access Database? How would you bring data from each system together? Run a report from each system, export (or even worse Copy & Paste) into Excel (presuming there is an export function)? Our Data Consolidation service is for those organisations that want to bring data together automatically to save time and effort. We believe that organisations should get to know what data they have as this can help in uncovering opportunities and getting a clearer picture of customers and the business. |
Benefits |
You might have heard of a Data Warehouse (or an Enterprise Data Warehouse) or Data Integration. These terms can be interchangeable as they all lead to the same outcome: a central data repository from one or more sources.
The benefits from a single data repository are many including:
Extracting data from multiple sources manually is risky and too time consuming. Also to gain value it has to be done consistently and without error, otherwise you'll end up making decisions on bad data or decisions on old data. An automated process can save time and effort in realising benefits from data. |
How it Works |
Our service helps to deliver these benefits by automating the process of bringing data together so the right information can be accessed by people when needed.
We begin by understanding processes and data to be able to capture only what's necessary and believe that the need to consolidate data should be driven by organisational goals (e.g. gain a complete Customer view, increase sales). Then we create the environment necessary to support the data requirements by utilising Amazon Web Services technologies. |
Case Study |
Our client had multiple internal database systems that managed key business processes including Customer Management and Human Resource Management. These weren't linked, making visibility of information from one database to another difficult without additional steps.
The requirements were to link the key databases to allow the ability to make timely decisions based on streamlined access to information. This would done using a number of reports that allowed a number of additional insights to be brought to light. Rather than add complexity to the approach and replicate data to multiple databases, we linked the information so that the most current would be available to the users. This has saved on time and IT resources as the data remains in place and is linked at real-time. Overall, the client now has the ability to obtain insights that they previously didn’t have by accessing timely information from multiple underlying data sources. This has helped them on their journey to understanding their data better and to make data-informed decisions. |
